Good as Hell
At the stoplight, Lizzo raspily tells me she’s checking her nails and out of nowhere I think: Most people will not live lives that are obviously meaningful. They won’t be Presidents or inventors or spiritual leaders that redefine everything. But that doesn’t mean their lives aren’t meaningful. Or less important. There’s no scale for these kinds of things.
I think: Is that so different from understanding that the universe has something in it that is holding it all together, something I might never know or truly understand in any way that language can capture — with me inside it?
Nope. Not really.
Then I wonder if the concept of meaning is even helpful but Lizzo says she’s feeling good as hell and the light turns green.
